It is interesting how his subdued coloring distances him from the bright field. It really emphasizes his mood. Nice! v

Chris Thomas replied:

Thank you Caitlyn. He was not a happy guy.

Great emotion showing in this shot! It looks like he has a sling around his neck, so maybe a broken arm and he is on the "disabled" list. So, I am thinking Sidelined might fit! (Thanks, Elizabeth). Benched usually means you screwed up and got pulled off the field, right?

Artist's Description

Bummed out that he's injured and can only watch. This is my son's last year in "Little League" before entering High School next year. The season was supposed to be "training" for tryouts in May. He's been playing year round since he was 5 and two days before his first game, he was climbing a fence to retrieve a ball, lost his footing, fell and broke his arm. He was devastated. He still attended every practice, put on his uniform and went to every game. This was shot during the first game of the season. He put on a brave face, but you could tell he was depressed. The happy ending to the story though is that he healed ahead of schedule, (only 6 of the 10 week projection) was able to make the tryouts and earned a spot on the summer squad.

About Chris Thomas

Chris Thomas

I've never really thought of myself as an "Artist", and after my first visit to this site, and having seen some of the many outstanding works offered here, I'm even less inclined to do so. I consider myself a student of art. I'm self taught in disciplines including photography, painting, wood carving (ugh!) and recently digital media. My goal has been as simple as trying to be better than this time last year. (take better pictures, make better drawings, etc...) If nothing else, I think I've accomplished that at the very least. My interest are extensive... sports, cars, architecture, scenic views, plants, animals, etc... so the things you'll find here are images of things I find visually interesting. Below are a few...
